The 2017 NBA Draft
The 2017 NBA draft took place on June 22, 2017 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. Players from across the world were eligible for this year’s draft, which was attended by over 50,000 people. But regardless of the high draft grade, the team chose another player instead. The Lakers selected Jayson Tatum, who many viewed as a reach. The Celtics traded down and find the talented big man from Texas Tech. The Philadelphia 76ers jumped up to take the No. 1 pick.
The Boston Celtics took a defensive wing, Terrance Ferguson, and a guard in the first round. Although Jackson is a proven scorer, he hasn’t yet found his role yet. The Thunder passed on Josh Jackson and only him. The Celtics also offered Isaiah Stewart, who was likely to function as next superstar in the league. This draft class gives the Celtics an all-around talent and a dependable starter.
The Portland Timberwolves landed two first-round picks in the draft, the Boston second-round pick, and the Sacramento Kings’ first-round pick. He hasn’t lived up to expectations, but he has been an excellent addition to the Warriors. The Blazers hoped for a player with plenty of potential to make the playoffs. They may not have known he had that much talent, but it’s obvious he can help them.
